Its the eve of 1st of July and wow does it seem like time has flown, half a year already gone by so I just decided to make a list of the best 5 books I have read so far. ( In no specific order)
1) Coraline by Neil Gaiman
I got a taste of Mr. Neil Gaiman’ writing and it was beautiful. Coraline, is a short read which is totally creepy but a must read as per me. Its not one of those kids book which has just the right balance of entertainment, adventure and lesson involved without being saccharine sweet.
2) Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
Have you ever been in a situation that just boggles your mind, turns your life upside down and inside out ? And the worst thing is you really don’t know who to blame ? Yeah that is somehow reading Gillian Flynn’ Gone Girl seems. A dysfunctional marriage’ truth is revealed and the true face of the person you picked to spend the rest of your life with is unraveled in Amy and Nick’ tale.
3) Golden Boy by Abigail Tarttelin
An intersex Max undergoes the worst kind of trauma as he is raped by one of his oldest friends. The way Max and those around him deal with the repercussions of the incident is the crux of Golden Boy.
4) Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna #1) by Kendare Blake
What if, even in death you find no peace ? What if, even in the afterlife you are cursed ? Anna – a 16 year old girl is murdered over 5 decades ago and continues to haunt the home where she once lived. Feared by the residents of her town, Thunder Bay as a cold blooded monster who has slayed 27 people who crossed the threshold of her home – Anna’ salvation arrives with the arrival of Cas Lowood, a boy who had come to her town with the lone purpose of putting her soul to rest but ends up falling in love with her.
5) The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
Neil Gaiman returns to adult fiction after a hiatus with the perfect blend of horror, fantasy and gorgeous storytelling. A must read for absolutely everyone.
